Goth Girls

Dear Brain,

Why this resistance to going to a movie at the mall? The theater at the mall has discounts and the movie club you belong to, but you would SO much rather skip the teenage crowd you're willing to drive further and forgo free popcorn. What's wrong with the teen scene? Are you finally becoming old? Destined to stand on your porch, waving a cane and yelling, "Hey you kids! Get off'a my lawn!" Say its not so! I will say that I was perversely proud of this group of teenage girls I passed on my walk yesterday. They were obviously not holla back girls . Also obviously from the wrong side of town. There were at least six of them. They looked like dangerous animals you would think twice about messing with, with their goth outfits and their cigarettes. Something in my heart just did a little glee dance. "Yeah girls! You show em! No one is going to turn the lot of you into victims, I'd like to see anyone try!"

I wish I could have gotten their picture but I didn't have my camera, and frankly, I would have been embarrassed to ask, dressed as i was in my old "NSYNC Charity Challenge" T-shirt. Seriously, I have an NSYNC shirt but I only wear it to sweat in and for potentially clothes ruining activities and then ONLY when I haven't done the laundry in weeks. Anyway, I just sidled by them and smiled to myself. Way to go girls!

B. is working from home today so I have to do my best not to pester him.

I found a big, skull shaped cookie cuter on Amazon yesterday. When it gets here I am going to make a batch of cookies for Dia De Los Muertes. Its so great to have the freedom to do that kind of stuff Brain, isn't it? I love my life! I do! I make money but I don't have to haul my ass off to work for someone else everyday. I get to travel and talk to friends, but I get my gardening and my privacy too. The only tiny complaint I have, Brain, is regarding this phenomenon where I schedule some cool class (like my Home Depot Do It Herself workshops ) that I'm really looking forward to. The rest of the month is entirely free. It never fails but I get a job for that ONE single day when I'd like to go do something else, and then about three more cool-seeming classes (like the Citizen Gardener classes) ALSO come up for that day while the rest of the month remains a wasteland of empty squares on the calendar. So frustrating. Still, in comparison to my old life, I can handle these frustrations!
