Maybe instead of droning on and on I should just show you why.
So...
Would you rather read one of these...

OR
one of these...

All of those books in both sets are young adult sci-fi/fantasy, but there the similarities end. The first collection of book covers, the ones with the fantastic artwork , are examples of the kind of book that grabs my attention and gets me interested in buying it. The second collection of book covers, the ones with the bitchy, I-Can't-Wait-to-Cyberbully-Someone-looking girls on them, are all I can find on the shelves these days. Come on! Doesn't anyone have any imagination or sense of adventure any more?! Is it really all just about how you look? Even if the stories inside are great, (not something I think is very likely but I'm very generously trying to give them the benefit of the doubt) I can't believe that your average pre-teen really wants to read a book where the main character is depicted looking exactly like the bitch on the bus who got all the other kids to call her "Fatty Fatty Pusspants."
Wake up book publishers! Who would want to read a story about any of those girls on the covers?! How am I supposed to relate to that? They look like they hate everybody, like the kind of girls who make out with their BFF's boyfriend on the BFF's birthday. I'm worried, I don't want to live in the world the kids who are interested in this crap are going to run!
(Seriously, most of those girls look like there is something seriously wrong with their lower lips don't you think!? Like their faces are starting to swell from the bottom up. "Oh guwwwwd my woer wip is totawy swowen out of cuhhtrwol!!!")
